a second book..

Because of the great response I’ve had to Ella’s story, I’ve decided to write another book, making escape west by wagon train a two-part series. The second book will be about Ruby and for those of you who have read the first book, you’ll know all about this tough little character. I’ll let you know publishing dates in the next few weeks. To make the books flow, I’ve added an epilogue at the back of Ella’s story which I’ll include in the front of the new book so all those who have read Ella’s story won’t miss out on reading it. Really excited about this.

keeping you up to date

on what I’ll be doing this year. I’ve made the decision to go ahead and write a book on Te’tukhe, one of the main characters in the Madeleine series. I’ve got so many notes on him and I did fall in love with him a little while I was writing about Madeleine and Ryder, but my main difficulty was when to start his story.

We first met Te’tukhe in 1799 in the first book of the series When the Wolf Loves and he returned to play a big role in the last two books. But the last book, When the Wolf Breathes, ends in 1806 and I didn’t see him as having anywhere to go after that. And although there could have been a story during those years he was with Ryder between 1797-1799, I finally decided Te’tukhe’s book could start in 1796, the year BEFORE he meets up with Ryder. Although from my notes and what I’ve done so far, it’s going to be a bit brutal as those times were hard. But will keep you informed on this as this year goes on.

I’m also playing around with a story on Ruby, one of the central characters in Ella escape west by wagon train, which would make that a two-part series. So will keep you up to date on that as it progresses.

not too long to go now..

Not long to go now before my latest book Escape West by Wagon Train: Ella’s story is ready to publish.  Here’s a small excerpt to show you what I’ve been doing.  Remember it’s an excerpt so it might read differently to this in the book. 🙂  And just a reminder – there’s no fantasy in this story, unlike the Madeleine series.

Martha walked slowly around her, admiring the dress.  “You make sure your hands are free of baking, Martha,” Ella scolded.  “I won’t get the stains out if you get something on it.”

“Oh hush girl.  You know full well I wouldn’t dare get this thing all dirty, for I do declare it’s the loveliest wedding dress I ever saw,” she said, standing back to admire the satin and silk creation.

The dress was a perfect fit, hugging Ella’s body in all the right places with the deep rich cream complimenting her skin tones and dark hair, while the satin and lace gloves covered her work-worn hands.  She lifted the heavy skirt, the half-dozen petticoats beneath it allowing the material to fan out around her.  “I do love it,” she said, “but you know as well as I do Martha that I’ll never wear it.  For how can I marry such a man?”

News on the publication date will be in my next newsletter, out on 1st October 2018.
